Sol Negru Rara Neagra
1 case = 12 bottles
This wine is made from selected grapes of Rara Neagră 2016. Rara Neagră is a rare sort of grapes, originated in Moldova and cultivate only on its territory. Grapes are manually selected and harvested from vineyards. After squashing, grapes pass through fermentation on marc for few days under constant temperature, so the wine takes all aromatic elements and tannins from grape skin to form the taste and aroma. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine passes to barrel maturation in American Oak barrels for 18 months. One of the best wines of Asconi at the moment.
Clear and deep ruby color, with bright copper shades towards the rim of the glass. The nose is rich, filled mostly with red fruits and savory flavors: overripe cherry tomato, sour cherry, ripe wolfberry, cranberry, red plum, redcurrant, tomato leaf, red delicious apple, ripe marionberry, pomegranate, currant leaf, and cherry seeds. An instant later the nose is filled with notes of red pepper, nutmeg, anise, cherry tree wood, and some irony hints of raw veal meat. The wine is dry, with a high alcohol level, high acidity, and ripe tannin. It feels firm, seedy, and quite bold, with a fruity but savory accent. This is a complex and elegant pinot noir wine, as it tastes velvety, crisp, and maybe just a bit tart. The wine feels well balanced with a fine tannic grip on the mouthfeel. It has a medium finish and a balanced and quite velvety aftertaste.
